About Us

The Principal, Janelle Westcott, brings many years of experience and professional qualifications to the academy. Operation of her academy for more then 20yrs has provided the youth of Yeppoon with a unique, professional, creative and educational experience in the training of dance and performance.

  • Bachelor Human Movement Science

  • Advanced Certificate Dance Teaching

  • British Ballet Organisation Teaching Certificate

  • Current working with children Blue Card

  • Progressing ballet technique Certification to assist all students and develop their technique.

 

Janelle believes that experiencing the love and enjoyment of dance and performance is important in the development of the individual as it teaches so many important life skills. Learning to dance helps build confidence, self-esteem, gain a sense of coordination, rhythm, musicality and style. It also teaches them team work skills, as well as offering discipline, exercise and a chance to make lifelong friendships with other students of varying ages.

 

Janelle's Academy of Dance supports the implementation of the highly regarded BBOdance (https://bbo.dance/dance-with-us/syllabi) from Pre-Primary through to Advanced 2 in the disciplines of Classical Ballet, Tap and Jazz. This syllabi is highly respected and taught through Australia and internationally, providing students with well recognised training.

Open days are held throughout the year, which allow parents to view any classes offered at the academy which helps to maintain the family feel of the academy.
